    Re: The Cape

Tks for the heads up all
Fished Seisha before - great fun.
We've got access to Indigenous land at Pomporaaw on and around the Coleman, so I've no doubt about the quality of the fishing there.

Dad had the gear lever bush die yesterday (common 80 series prob) - being fixed in Weipa.

Tha Cape, oh what a feeling. Been to the top around 18 times now. What an addiction. Best challenge is to be one of the first to get through after the wet. Oh the good old days when the Wenlock was a challenge, and you could swim the cars across the Jardine.
So many places to see, so many tracks to do.
Stop thinking, stop thinking, the missus will kill me if I say we're going back again, we're crossing the desert and hitting the Madigon Line next year. Got to start looking at other places than the Cape. Hopefully the rest are as awesome as up there.
    You'll love it,
    Cheers

drove to cape three times 86 87 88 all times in an old lead sled nissan patrol. ,bandag retreads, not a puncture, all trips were via the old telegraph road.only setback was the $780.00 fuel bill.( lot of fuel in 86) we never had any damage at all in the 3 trips. can you imagine what it was like in 86 ? ,you could go anywhere you liked ,we used to spend a few days at the mouth of the jardine, out to sommerset the homestead was still there then, the old telegraph station was like they had just walked out and left books etc. ginger micks tin mine, punsand bay, and the barge was $25.00 which included $5.00 for the rfdoctor which you were given a receipt. the guy that ran the barge, and his sons are the ones who found the waterfalls and different things along the track and made the signs for the tourists to see .and the fishing was shithot i was standing on a bridge about 3 ks out of bamaga at carrol creek threw the first lure i have ever used, and got smashed by this sarra at least 3 feet long, frieghtened the crap out of me as it jumped out of the water. great place then, great place now . hubby
