Revserving Cameras & Monitors
I have recently bought a Toyota Prado 2001 50th anniversary model and like it so far
One of the draw backs with it hardly no vision at the back of the vechile when looking in rear-vision mirror when reversing
and very hard to see when reversing back on to boat trailer So I am looking at reversing camera what type where I should get the camera mounted eg bumper or inthe door or top of vechile and what kind of monitor to get with it as well eg dash board one or mirror type
So any comments on this subject would be great [smiley=helpa.gif]

Re: Revserving Cameras & Monitors
Hi Mitch
I got a cheapo off ebay,
mounted the camera just above the towball and a little 50mm screen on the dash. The camera shows neary to the bumper ends and to the ground about where the towbarbar ends. Makes hooking the boat up so easy and parking in tight spots is great. Its on a Rangie, be lost without it now. It has been there about 12 months. Cost was about $140 delivered.
cheers

I got one like blaze
Come with all the parts, except the screen will only show black and white now. Will replace the screen some day, would like a GPS that can do both.
I up graded the camera to a infra red one so i can see out the back at knight (cost $60 of ebay)
There are some being advertised locally for over $400 cant see the value when you can get the same thing on ebay for under $200.

I also got one off EBay. It came from Brash Imports. The monitor clips onto the rear view mirror and whe turned off still acts as a mirror.

Instructions said to wire via reversing lights, but I wired mine via parkers. That way I can have it on when driving forward if I want; just turn the parkers on.

Re: Revserving Cameras & Monitors
We fit them at work all the time.
We get them from Remote Controll Technologies. I don't think they will be the cheapest but we don't have any problems with the units.
Best to mount the camera high and look down.
Fancy buttons and dodads to turn the image upside down and mirror image zoom in and out hook up multiple cameras etc etc.
Even has sound so you can hear the reverse beeper if you want.
you can even plug in the dvd and watch your favorite fishing movies on your way to the ramp.
Let us know how you get on Mitch.
