Went out Saturday morning with raging bull.(Mark)
Left Raby Bay ramp at 4-15am.
Headed outside after a hairy looking bar.
Started trolling lures at 7-00am.
7-15am, whammo and me mates on and lands a 8 kg Wahoo.
7-30am, whammo, I loose 250m of line in 10 seconds flat no joke.
This is a serious fish Im thinking.
Any way 20 mins later I get it nearly boat side and then I feel a bump which feels like it is trying to do another blistering run, but no, I see its head 10 seconds later so I call colour, and stand back. Me mate gaffs it and starts laughing. If youve lost it I'm gonna kill ya Im thinking, as this is the biggest fish I have ever caught.
Any way he gaffs it and brings it boat side, and some bastard of a Tiger shark has sharked me 10 seconds from the boat.
What is left is less than half the fish, and my scales bottomed out at 15kg.
My guess is the fish went 30-35kg. As it stands it is still my heaviesst fish to date as somewhere around 15-17 kg.
Got a heap of fish off it and Im still stoked.
It appears I now have a meeting with a 30+ kg wahoo in the near future.
Bring on the pelagic season!
Hey Skippa, got your message that you couldnt make this trip mate, you missed a good one. No doubt we will be speaking soon.
G/ day Ryan well done mate, to bad about the shark mate but at least he left you half what area did you work and what were you towin, ie bait,or lures ? Any yellowfin or macks ? What channel did you cross the passage ?
Ryan
I reckon the fight from a fish like that is more than half the joy. He was probably running shi7 scared from a shark and thats why he fought so hard.
Great report with the sad end
Keep on trying as now you have a new goal to get a whole one
Ha Ha Mark you're a funny bastard.
At least my half weighed twice your'e whole fish eh. Whos laughing now.
Angla, hell of a fight mate, 250 metres of line in 10 seconds flat, unbelievable.
I didnt see any yellow fins etc out there which I was expecting to catch a few.
Well done Ryan mate! We were out yesterday (Sat) morning too.....got two monster hoo's and an average size one! Looks like a good summer coming up! Congrats again mate.
