Some big dollies on the Point Lookout Wave Rider Buoy at the moment.
They're a bit gun shy - keep the bait moving to get them interested.

Thanks for the tip Dave!
Does anyone have the co-ordinates of the waverider buoy further north? i.e. Sunshine Coast?
Cheers,
Herby
Wont be for long![]()
I don't get offshore off the Sunny Coast very often.
All I have is:
Caloundra - Latitude: 26.85° S Longitude: 153.15° E
Mooloolaba - Latitude: 26° 33.89'S Longitude: 153° 10.95'E

Hi Dave,
This is my species for this summer. I have caught one small Dollie last month so I am looking forward to those big ones.
Thanks for the News.
FrankOO
nice fish did it play much , still one of the best looking fish to catch the colors they show at the boat ,
what were you fishing with bait or lures
wayne
Ooohhh awesome fish - love a good feed of mahi mahi - I reckon it tastes like a cross between fresh bream and fresh tailor.
Thanks for the pic.

Thats a solid bull Dave ...fine speciman indeed for the Wave rider buoy ...
so i am assuming you were throwing pillies at them !? no livies onboard ?
Hi Nugget, Great fish mate!
Have you ever tried using soft plastic jerk baits around there?
would be interesting!
cheers
Toppy
Toppy , some days they jump all over them .
We were throwing snap backs and powerbaits at them just before winter for good hook up results ...probably about as good as the pilchards were doing .flies work pretty good too
All depends on the day , they can get fickle on one thing and hammer another
nothing outfishes livies though
Thanks Dave, I'll check those out co-ordinates out soon.Originally Posted by Nugget

Hello Nuget.
Well done good fish
Do they bite on SP and what sort or line should we use?
With the daily flogging that bouy gets it's incredible to think a fish smart/lucky enough to grow to that size would be stupid/unlucky enough to be caught there!
Sure is a snodger.
Awesome fish Nugget. And don't they eat GOOOOOOD!!
Just had some tonight we caught today off the Goldie. Mine today was really weird .... a 25 Lb fish but no jumps and hardly a fight; until the gaff woke him up then all hell broke loose.... end result bruised arm, broken penn inter 20 and lotsa yelling!! They are bloody scary on board! Frank, you're gonna have a wild time this season if they are your target!
Well done and here's to more of em!
