    A REEF HUNT

Hope everyone had a great christmas and new years break!
I just got back from spending a few weeks up in the tropics at kurrimine beach near innisfail with the family and friends. We had some brilliant days while up there, did a bit of fishing and touring around, but this year i did alot of spearfishing for a change, and it was sure worth it!
During our stay the fishing was relativily slow as can be expected for this time of year, but in saying that there was some good fish caught. A mate of mine up there landed two huge spaniards one morning of 50 and 70lb and the boys went on an overnighter out wide and come home with a good bag of large reds, nanny's and some quality trout.
While this was going on i put in a few days of spear fishing on the closer reefs, i didnt keep count of the total of fish and crays that i speared but i did quite well.
We spent christmas morning on one of the close in islands and had a champagne breakfast followed by a swim and then off home for a feed of prawns, crays, mudcrabs, coral trout and red emperor for lunch! what a feast!
Theres plenty of fishing stories and yarns i could tell but i'll put up a few pics i took while out on the reef chasing crays and trout...foxy

This trip we bagged out on crays, these were our christmas dinner. We baked them by splitting them open with butter ,garlic and lemon juice, even the large ones come up trumps!...foxy

              Geday Foxy ,
Sounds like it would have been aTop trip , the spearfishing would have been different to the old fishing line in 100 meters ร‚

I'll bet Bugman will be impressed with those Crays ร‚

AWESOME - I'd be stoked to get ONE of those crays on a trip away let alone a haul like that - simply awe inspiring.

Some very serious crays there!! You'd need at least a 44gal drum to cook em. Nice haul of trout too.
