    GC WAHOOOO

Hit the deeper waters off the goldy yesterday for some trolling with DC in his boat. First hit was a dollie on the shotgun, only a baby thou .. saw 7-8 of his mates hanging around as we brang him to the boat, they were only small buggers too. Threw him back to fight another day , and continued on. Very quiet for a long time, then the shotgun gets hit again, this time pulls some drag and stops, then another hit on it .. pulls some good drag and a beakie appears out of the water only to shake the hooks on us > . DC was the only lucky one to see the fish launch itself , maybe next time we can get the bugger to stick . Kept trolling, plenty of birds and small bait on the surface but no action. Finally towards the end of our day the shotgun goes off once again , and we are into something reasonable. A few calls of tuna ( i thought maybe yellofin) , then some vision under the boat.. hrm too long to be tuna! , WAHOO is the call and the gaffs out ready to boat our dinner . Fish gaffed and 8-10kg of wahoo is boated, a great team effort all round. Unsure of weight, forgot to weigh it doh!

A long day on the water, but a good result in the end, maybe next time we can get that beaky to stick! (And i can get a look the bugger ) .

Thanks for the trip DC, and thanks to my mate cameron for doing a ripper job clearing the rods and helping out. [smiley=2thumbsup.gif]

You guys are a ripper team.
Does the deeper water mean the 36's or the 50's or ?
Did you use wire on your lure?

I trolled in close this morning without a touch.

Yeh, it was a great day in the end, with each fish choosing the lure running shotgun (my rod), my new TLD20 I scored for Christmas got a good workout
Thanks Matt_g, the Meridian you sent in the mail claimed me my first Mahi - undersize by 1cm, but still my first. Glenn (Springwood Marine), your rigging held up a treat
It was great to see the first Wahoo for my boat finally pulled over the gunnel. Both the 'hoo and the black went for a lumo coloured lure.
BB, the lure that took the hoo is rigged with a 2 hook shackle rig, mono leader. We trolled at depths between 55m-80m.

Great stuff JB & DC. Love the colours on the hoo. They look great when they are lit up like that. Shame the dollie was under sized. The one we took yesterday also fell to a Meridian.

    Cheers,

    Re: GC WAHOOOO

Awesome guys. That hoo was going nowhere by the look of that gaff shot. Pity about not getting the hooks to stick with the beakie. Next time.

Congrats again on a great effort.

    Cheers
