Hit the deeper waters off the goldy yesterday for some trolling with DC in his boat. First hit was a dollie on the shotgun, only a baby thou .. saw 7-8 of his mates hanging around as we brang him to the boat, they were only small buggers too. Threw him back to fight another day , and continued on. Very quiet for a long time, then the shotgun gets hit again, this time pulls some drag and stops, then another hit on it .. pulls some good drag and a beakie appears out of the water only to shake the hooks on us > . DC was the only lucky one to see the fish launch itself , maybe next time we can get the bugger to stick . Kept trolling, plenty of birds and small bait on the surface but no action. Finally towards the end of our day the shotgun goes off once again , and we are into something reasonable. A few calls of tuna ( i thought maybe yellofin) , then some vision under the boat.. hrm too long to be tuna! , WAHOO is the call and the gaffs out ready to boat our dinner . Fish gaffed and 8-10kg of wahoo is boated, a great team effort all round. Unsure of weight, forgot to weigh it doh!
A long day on the water, but a good result in the end, maybe next time we can get that beaky to stick! (And i can get a look the bugger ) .
Thanks for the trip DC, and thanks to my mate cameron for doing a ripper job clearing the rods and helping out. [smiley=2thumbsup.gif]
