Tagging along with the Wild Thing

Followed out Sunday morning with the crew of Wild thing off Bribie Island. On the way got shown how to pick some lives but ended up replacing my jig after ended up having only 1 out of 6 hooks left after mackeral kept hitting the jig. Got out to Cols spot and started drifting using pillies and squid for bottom dropper and a livie floating out the back. First drop a parrot was happy about that then the deckie pulls up a nice lipper. Caught some nice squire and more lippers through the day .

About midday the live bait goes off reel screaming it called for rods up and the chase is on. Never been so buggered in my life about about 1hour and 15min and 3km get the first look about a 7ft shark estimated 200kg rises up about 7m under the boat just too much dead weight too pull up. Then bang gone bit through the 80lb mono trace. Caught on a cheap penn overhead outfit from amart all sports with 50lb braid. Only ended up doing one more drift after that was to stuffed and called it a day.

    Good on ya Markpeta...

I'm sure you picked up some helpful tips from Col, read your post about the Cal bar...good for you, I'm not sure I'd give it a go even with an experienced skipper in the boat in front! and bringing a monster shark up is no mean feat...would've been fun for the first 20mins...after that just hard bl@@dy yakka!!!

    Keep up the good work
    cheers
