well i was getn pestered by my 5yr old to get out on the boat so after about 3seconds of arm twisting i said OK.
was on the water by 7am and headed to a wreck near double island. calm waters getting there but soon whipped into a chop with gusty winds. was getn p%$sed off as couldnt hold an anchor . i think the other 2 boats that had a pick down must of thought i was drift fishn!
as a storm was brewing and headn towards us and the other 2 boats pulled anchor and made a swift exit i was about to head for shelter i noticed a large flock of birds working on the horizon, so decided to whip across and see what that was all about..before i knew it i was surrounded by tuna crashing into baitfish. fun watching those speedsters darting all over the shop trying to chomp my lure. sure enough one was peeling line from my reel. playing the fish and watching the storm headn my way thinking i had to get this fish in quick and head for shelter at double island. not easy on a 2-4kg rod!. also hard to say good bye to chomping tuna. anyway we anchored in a nice calm cove at double island. was a good chance to get my daughter onto some smallish fish. she caught 3 trout ..2 were on 30cm. 8cm short of a BBQ.
i thought id stick a gar out as you never know and hooked up on a shark which was quickly released (with a hook in its chops).
wasnt the day i had planned but was great watching my daughter catch a few and shes making plans for the next trip already!
