    Offshore Virgin

Took the mighty Edgetracker offshore from Mooloolaba for her maiden outside adventure on Sunday Morning.

Arrived at the boat ramp about 4.40am on Sunday morning to find the carpark fully exploited.
Headed out of the heads and turned right in search of some pelagic activity. Trolled the shark nets just around the head but no action found.
Decided to turn around and try the bay side of mooloolaba instead. Within a couple of minutes of running excitement was in the air as a suprising number of large leaping lomg tails got the adrenalim pumping. Trolled around for a while looking for the bait schools but still no hits. Stopped the engine to try some different lures and low and behold a shool of angry mackeral and tuna start busting up the water about 50m in front of the boat, heading straight for us. Raiders are ready to go, wait for it, wait.... Lookout - inbound cowboys come flying in from the south and back off right in the middle of the school. No surprises what the fish did then - gooooone.

Motored around for a while longer casting raider to no avail, plenty of surface activity but no hook ups. Never mind, the edgetracker performed without a problem so if the weather holds out I'll be back.

Any suggestions for lure types for casting/trolling would be appreciated or would a berly trail and floating ganged pillies be the better option. Looked like the major bait in the area were really small hardy heads about 1.5 inches long?
