hey mark,nice sail mate.i have been following your articales in bush and beach and this is a very good outcome of the begining of your billfishing trails and tribulations.I've been offshore fishing for about 8 years but only chased billys for 2 seasons.Once you start you simply cant stop.Im shaw its the sound of the ratchet that does it.99%boredem 1%pure f@#kn mayhem.any way hope to here from you or see you on the water.

What a top start to the year for you Mark...first a black, now a sail, next trip the shelf for a blue I reckon. Great effort. I was just wondering whether Johno's right hand was tingling after handling the sail's slime?

As for the shark, I don't think it's a blue shark, more like some form of reef whaler from looking at the pic.

Mitch, thats the way it goes .... this bill fishing is more of a team effort to land them anyway and I enjoy driving the boat during a fight.

Never would have guessed that was a parasite. It looked and felt like rope. You learn something every day

Two Dogs. I ruled out a mako based on pictures I found. Not really similar, although it had the right attitude. Even started jumping straight at the boat glad it was small cause it was angry

Yep Jeffo, both on the two hook rig. They are doing the job at the moment. 2 for 2 on bills and 9-9-8 all up.

makos tail fin is pretty much "equilateral". This is longer at the top than the bottom

I'm for 70% Normally, the adult blue shark has longer pectorals but this being a juvenile it may be different. Caught a couple of blues in the UK and they jump as well as a mako when they feel like it. Just a thought...........I find it amazing that sharks such as blues and makos are *so* adaptable that they are even caught in the colder waters (in summer) around the UK.
