Headed out Friday night to spot X off the other side of Moreton, feeling O.K. about my first session this year. Was blowing N.E. so the hopes weren't too high.
First drift - 4+ k.g. pearly things are looking better.
Had another few drifts and had 3 great pearlies and one of the biggest moses perch I've seen.
Heading towards my bag on pearlies some time around midnight and the plotter beeps - NO FIX......
Sat around for a while, had a beer, cold started the plotter a couple of times. Then set the radio to scan. Soon gathered that some numbnut had switched off the GPS system, either to fix a rogue satelite or because world war 3 had started, I'm not sure which.
So now I'm looking for a tit in 70m with no reference points. This of course did not eventuate, and I had to head home on dead reckoning. All I can say is thankyou GOD for the moon on friday, the storms that disappeared for the trip home, and also high tide over the pearl banks which I think I may have driven straight over the top of? (sounder showed 0.6m at one stage....)
Still I had my trip out, got fish and got home safe. Cam's happy again.
Cheers all
No photo's had to knock them up quick and get to a kid's birthday party to ensure permission is granted for the next trip whenever that may be.
