Ben and I had been watching the weather since last Sunday and Seabreeze had been predicting a fantastic weekend with little or mo wind.
Friday night came and the forecast was still the same. Oh sure there was a bit of rain around, but there was no wind. We were off. I left Bribie Island at 3:00am and although we encountered a bit of rain, the trip went well.
Ben and Natalie arrived at the Mooloolaba boat ramp right on time and it didn’t take us long to get the boat into the water. It was suggested strongly by my Darling Wife Sheila, that the girls would be going.
We started by trolling around Murphies to no avail, but the plan was always to go to Barwon Banks.
No sooner had we arrived, than Sheila’s little Loomis went off. Then it really took off. This was no small fish. Sheila fought it for over half an hour when it became very light. I had just suggested that a shark had taken the best part of the fish when a very dead and bashed 3.5kg snapper came to the surface. Something had swallowed it whole and eventually spat it out. No problems. We could still weigh it in.
The rest of the day just got better. We had to go home and leave the fish biting. Bugger!!!!. When we arrived back at Mooloolaba Natalie casually mentioned that there were some birds over there.
Just one more cast…………. Spotties everywhere.. Literally thousands of them.
What a great day…………
