Managed to crack the Spottie drought last weekend (Sat) .....off the PIN Bar.
Went for a quick troll at gentlemens hours after dropping the missus & kids at the beach.
Usual ear bashing as we pulled away.....you'll get nothing
Birds were working off the Bar so a quick decision was made to go East. Out go a bunch of lures & within 5 mins a hit, but no hookup...bugger. Didn't even give spotties a thought....was thinking tuna or tailor etc.
Try again this time a solid hookup & a good Spottie comes to the boat after a few solid runs & is netted & lifted aboard. Was stoked to get one. Will have to give this another go. Out go the lures again & within 15 min. another good hit & hoolup...this is tops. Ended up with 3 good fish & a total of about 7 hits in about 45 min. Biggest up to 92 +cm & solid, not sure on weight but at least 4+ kg.
Back thru the Bar ...(a few biggish waves startin to stand up on the run out tide) and back to the beach for lunch & a cleansing ale or two. It doesn't get much better.
Have attached a few pics....I hope.
First ..my son hooked up !!
Looks like the Spotties are all staying wide of Morteon Bay.
G'day Brett
Yeh have been out thru there a few times (but not for a while) & it can be a bit Nasty.
It is a lot shallower than I remember last time...only 6/7 M on top of the tide.
Gives some options to a bit more country I guess.
Gbanger.....the pics are taken on the good old 35mm, then scanned, emailed etc. & posted here ... so some loss of clarity.
Yeh.......I had not heard of Dalecraft boats before this one turned up from NQ.
They are a great boat, heaps of fishin room & very solidly built.
Also it is one very soft riding boat...& they luv to be driven with gusto
