RANDO- they are jacks alright when they get older they look like that and there tails round to some times but im not sure what makes this happen does any one know why there tail goes different.
Jackextracter, not sure mate.
What i want to know is what happens with jacks growing??
What process occours before the juvenile jacks start appearing in the upper reaches of rivers?
Do the larger fish return from the reef to the rivers to spawn??
That could explain some cases of massive jacks being caught in rivers randomly, they could possibly be returning to spawn....
Be good to hear what others know on it
Cheers

Top stuff Fadil
Looks like that jack in the pic has had some damage in it's younger life. The fins looked damaged and it has some old healed wound marks with the scales slightly out of form. The tail is short and rounded aswell.
Great catch mate and I'm sure you now have a new spot X

Hi No_luck,
I wish I had "no_luck" like you!!
But seriously, I am brand new to this whole game. I have dirven other people's boat for 30 yrs but only bought my own 2 weeks ago. (5.4m, 150hp Yammy)
I can hardly wait to get out to the open sea, but don't know where to go.
Is it possible to get some decent GPS co-ords on places to go (especially off M'ba)
Thanks
Linz

Hi no_luck,
Looks like you really got into the jacks. I used to live up that way and we got some good spots at 25 fathom that produce big jacks at certain times of the year. Reef jacks look and taste great! Well done. Used to do alot of fishin out at the gutters too. I don't get up there much anymore. Wish I was out there now getting into em ! Getting a bit tired of this weather.
well done
looks like a good spot alright
