G/ day all thought i would take the new boat out for her maiden offshore trip today, so decided to stay in close and work around the rock group off straddie. Headed out around 6 am from raby and bumped into the bay guru (WEBBY) up the glassed out Rainbow channell (see pic) crossed a very calm South Passage (Amity channell) and headed for the group. Put out some skirts and hard bodys and headed N/ East, wasnt feeling very confident with no run and no baitfish to be seen, so a quick trip to some good ground near boat rock produced a fish every drop but all were 30 to 33 cm squire so all were returned to grow some more. We then decided to have another crack at the toothy critters and headed back to the area we had tried earlier, and to our surprise the bait was on the move and it had things jumpin (fish and birds ) first pass was a double hook up of 4+ kilo macks that found there way to the bait bin, second pass we spotted a good size black going off about 100 mts from our set so i headed that way and then within 10 seconds the skirt goes off at a scary rate of knots and im on! It wasnt the black but a o/size Whoo that hit the bin as well. Got another couple of good size macks for the bait box and had two more big strikes for nil result. All in all a top day for the first run and mabye next time that black will come to the party !
