    Dirty water still producing.

Good news for all you ausfishers. Yes there is still a lot of dirty water around but the past 10 days or so has been great. Pictured below is todays catch- minus a few spaniards to the sharks
With the weekend coming up those of you on the Gold Coast and Northern NSW should be having a good look in close. Live slimies slow trolled is the go as long as the water temp is over 24dg. A lot of fish have been down deep so the downrigger has been working overtime.
Anyway just thought with the weekend coming up you might like to know whats happening around this area anyway.
    Cheers

Top fish, and happy looking customers. [smiley=2thumbsup.gif]
Is that Rob K again 2nd from right? Bit hard to tell with the glasses. The one on the left looks long enough for a Macabe also.

I too am keen to know how you rig your livies on the downrigger Mono. What type of wire, breaking strain, and hook config do you use to troll live slimies down deep?

    Regards
    CT

Hi Jeff, yes that is Rob Kemp. He is a regular with us.
On a sad note did you hear about Benny King? Died from a heart attack last week, only 42 Funeral next tuesday, will be HUGE.
Hi CT, will answer your downrigger questions in 'Saltwater' section, tonight. Just finished another hard day at the office, need a Jim Beam!
Scotty, the article in the paper today was not excactly how I told it, but close. Thats just newspapers I guess. They rang me after a client last week told them of the big sharks that kept stealing the occasion fish!

    Mono,
Yeah mate, heard the sad news about Ben, mum sent me a message. Not in aus at the moment, so won't be able to attend the funeral unfortunately.
A top bloke taken too early.

    Jeff
PS if you see Rob again soon, tell him Jeff Flemo says G'Day.
Good to see you are doing well with the new rig. Hope the marine park rules don't stuff you around too much when they kick in.

    Giday Mono

Was down there sunday and am guessing your day was not not a lot better than ours! We weren't all that worried about the colour of the water but the temp (21c) was very poor. We were in the little southwind longboat ,and although we managed a feed of spotties the spanish didn't want to play, how did you go? The spotties were huge at 6kg and almost a meter and tasted great so the days wasn't a total right off.

    Ian

Ps Thank for the tip about the BP being closed that would have been a bummer at 5.30 am
Alcohol doesn't agree with me, but i sure do enjoy the argument!!!

    Re: Dirty water still producing.

Hi Ian, good to see you got a feed. Yes the spots have been huge, we actually got a couple yesterday that went 7.5 cleaned.
On Sunday when I left the bar and seen the water temp I didnt even bother having a look on the local reefs except up at Black rock. We ended up out at Windara Banks and got some big tuna, snapper and a beautiful Black Marlin around 60kg. Although pretty quite at least the water out wide was warm and a great colour.
The water yesterday,Monday, improved up at black Rock and the spotties bit ALL day. We left them at lunch time and they were still 'going off'. Great fun.
Nice looking rig you have there. Should have given me a yell and told me who you were. Did you see the big schools of spots up at BR just swimming around, awesome. No Spaniards for us either but with spotties of that size, who cares?
