Went out of the Tweed today and had a up and down day.
Were heading out to the 40's and 50's so had to have a bit of a troll past the nine mile. First run produced 3 Mac Tuna's that was an encouraging start to the day.
With that off we went to try and get a feed of the bottom out wide. Sounder showing fish fairly spred out and they were definetly hard to come by. Pulled up a 58cm Pearly as the star attraction. Other fish that we got were a couple of moweys, pigs and squire but the were all hard work and we had to move around a bit as the bites were few and far between.
Worked our way in close back to the 36's of Palmy way for the same result and fish just not wanting o bite.
With that it was back to the Nine Mile for another troll. Got the odd Mac Tuna here and there and finally managed to hook up on a Hoo. First one boated and went 12kg. Lures out again and wall to wall mack kept us amused till the second hoo conected. This baby was a sneaky fish and charged at the boat at a rate of Knots. First gaff shot on the fish and as it was still agreen fish didnt like the feel of the Gaff and off she went again... half the gaff in the fish.. the other half still in Brendans hand. Aliitle while later we had a chance for another gaff shot and in she came with the other half still in it. The second went 15 and was a nice fish.
Played around for a bit longer with the odd Mac Tuna thrown in.
All in all not a bad day.
As a point of interest thanks to the surfers who put on a show out at the nine mile. It was going off and these guys were getting towed in for some real special rides.
