I was set a special mission to catch some high quality fish off the Cape Moreton for our relatives and guest from Melbourne, both vegetarian which eat only fish.
Gotta love this job Got a call from Damo (JustOneMore) to join his crew Todd (oddbudman), Dan and Camille. Headed to Hutchies for night fishing.
Few stop at the beacons and filled up livies in live tank at beacons. Damo jigged and caught a surprise little red & black (see pic below).
Trolled high speed lures toward to Hutchies 15 minutes later first strike went to my O/H reel screamed Dan grabbed and last 20 sec line bite off.
In another 15 minutes later double strike we reeled them in and discovered two 8kg Mac Tuna. I checked my fish list for dinner with guest and told crew Mac Tuna is not on the list and tossed into water and keep one for bait.
Before sunset serious fishing business commenced and Damo & Dan tried out jigging with around 230 & 300gram jig. Dan claimed his first fish Amberjack (3 Kilo mark) on Jig and crew congratulated him.
It was slow fishing on this night I managed pull few fish, first fish was carpet shark aprox 15 to 20 kg (PB) gee… not on my fish list and threw back water. 2nd fish was Barracuda landed and quick check on fish list and gee… it does carry ciguatera and don’t want poison my guest and toss back water. After that I finally caught a nice Blackall to take home. Todd got a nice fish currently unknown (see pic)?
Last night I cooked & served fish with organic salad to guests and they ate and pleased and told me they had the best dinner ever in their short break. Again I gotta love this job (go & fishing often later)
Thanks to Damo for a pleasurable fishing night.
Cheers
