"THE COFFEES" - NOOSA - MONDAY 22 MAY

HEADED OVER THE BAR AROUND 3:30PM FOR A FISH. GOT SOME LIVIES ON THE WAY AT THE BAIT GROUNDS. HEADED TO WIDE NORTH REEF LOOKING FOR SOME FISH BUT IT WAS PRETTY QUIET ON THE BOTTOM. DECIDED TO HEAD UP TO THE COFFEES AND FOUND A GOOD SCHOOL OF FISH THERE AROUND 5:30PM. ANCHORED UP AND STARTED BURLEYING. FIRST DROP WAS A NICE SWEETLIP, NEXT DROP ANOTHER SWEETLIP, THEN WE CAUGHT A FEW SNAPPERY SQUIRE, HUSSAR, TRAG JEW AND TAILOR. PULLED THE PICK AT 7PM AND PUNCHED IT HOME AS WE HAD TO GET OVER THE BAR BEFORE THE TIDE GOT TO LOW. DONT LIKE CROSSING THE BAR IN THE DARK ON THE LOW TIDE.. THE CONDITIONS WERE NICE AS THE WIND DROPPED RIGHT OUT AND THERE WAS BUGGER ALL SWELL. CANT WAIT FOR THE NEXT GOOD WEATHER TO HEAD OUT THE HARDS!!

    Hi Ian,
Your mark is a bit wider than the coffees. The coffees bearing is 16 degress from the noosa bar at around 20km. You been doing alright at your mark lately?
    Cheers,
    Ben.

Haven't been there for a while Ben but it always produces some big sweeties and mouri cod it's biggest advantage is that is generally covered in big slimies so bait is easy. Must catch up some time as i have a fair bit of country wide of there but never know what to call it, i'm always seeing a few pro's out that way.

    Hi Ian,
Sounds good mate would like to try that area, as I usually fish the Hards or the Muds for reef fish. Do you head out that way at all?
    Ben.

    Hi Greg,
I use spanner crab shells and pillies. Put them both in a bucket and smash the whole lot up. Make sure it is smashed up into a relatively fine mix of burley. I throw a good handful out every 5 mins whilst fishing. I like this mix as the shell has weight to get the burley down the water column if there is a bit of run, and the pillies let off a good scent at the same time.
    Cheers,
    Ben.
