    Toyota Expo Fraser Island

Ok... day 1 of the comp - first report.
I'm sitting on the beach at Waddy Point - weather has been reasonable although not comfortable for the offshore boaties.
Looking better for the next few days.
Tracks are excllent - a few days of rain before the comp settled the sand perfectly.

So far I've seen a 12.2kg jew come off the beach - was caught at 11am today.
There were about half a dozen jew weighed in off the beach at the first weigh in of the comp - more than I've seen off the beach in years.
Cedric Byrne has the tailor at 3.2kg - there were quite a few tailor between 2.9 and 3kg weighed in this morning.
It's about 3pm so no offshore weigh in as yet.
I did catch up with Bush N' Beach's Greg Lampret and crew - they had a nice red that weighed 10.1kg but they were not going to weigh it in because it was caught before midnight... the start of the comp.

    Photo attached.
I'll try and do regular updates as time and battery power allows.

    Cheers

No surprises to see Cedric in the lead but he'd be thinking that 3.2kg just aint good enough to win. Crack another bottle and get back into it mate, there's a lot more work to do. And I don't think it's very sporting to sabotage Cliffs truck like that before the comps even started.

No idea what you're talking about Lindsey - Spoke to Cliff yesterday and he never mentioned anything about his truck?
Must be someone else's practicle joke.

The red is 13.75, tailor and jew didn't change at the evening weigh in.
    Good sweetlip - 5.2.

    Back to work...

    Hi Guy,

Have just returned from the fraser fishing expo (WORK CALLS) . I Left on monday and to let you know the fishing is pretty hot up there at the moment. The leading red at the moment is weighing in at 13.65KG. I didnt get the weights but I did see a big rosie job fish in a big yellow garbage bag (still 2 foot hanging out of the bag). I would suspect 6 - 8 KG's. The Jew fish have gone mad they are everywhere. I only managed to go out on sunday for 1.5 hrs (1 of the deckies was horribly sick) but in that time managed 4 snapper all 2- 3 KG, 2 x grassy sweetlip biggest being 4.7 KG. 8 x tusk fish all around the 1.5 to 2 kg range. 1 x bluefin tuna and 3 silver bream all of around 3 KG. Hope this helps. By the way Nugget if you see "The Piss Cutters" AKA "MOJO" tell them the crazy wog sais HI.

Report for 25/06/2006. Apparently early this morning the fish were on the chew but the fish and bite quality has really died off >. Have had an unconfirmed report of a 24kg Wahoo. Will hopefully confirm this later. Would like to know of any other Ausfish Members that were in the comp. Weather is looking terrific for tomorrow and saturday and looks like trolling will be high on the agenda for team MOJO. Hopefully they will come up tops with a few nice spanish or even wahoo. Have been assured that there are plenty of livies just off indian head and large cobia. Although only managed a 85cm specimen (still a good chew though). I think more people are having a good old fashion pissup up there and im very very angry that my trip was cut short due to work commitments. I am looking at heading out to the spit on the weekend and try my luck for some taylor in the early hours of saturday morning (Land Based). Good luck guys, will have another report tomorrow lunch time for those that are interested.
