I've recently moved from Brizzy to the bueatiful Bowen, just north of Airlie. I've been still reading up on the chat board but there doesn't seem to be too many people on line that fish this area. I was hoping that some of you guy's have fished this area before and may know of some nice jack or barra territory, for me to get into, geez any info at all about the Bowen region will be helpful.

Yeah mate I live in Bowen. I spear more than I fish but I have been chasing plenty of jacks lately and getting into em. Next time im planning a trip Ill send you a PM.

Mate, I have inlaws in Bowen and visit there a couple times a year and am gonna start draggin the new boat up there. Can you point me in the direction to get a few reefies and billfish when they're about. Any info to start from without giving away any secrets of coursewould be much appreciated.

yeah mate i live in mackay and fish up that way alot you got some good fishing there.
The weather has been real crappy here of late as you will know, I've managed to sneak into some local creeks, well one the Adelaide, which is a good looking creek for jack, bream and trevally at high tide but a totally different system on the low...
I,ve been tossin soft plastics around in there and had some success but not great. Any chance you know of the location of the Magazine, Gordon or Duck creeks? If you do, maybe we should arrange a trip, my boat...

got alot happening at the moment but in a month or so i will have a 20 foot cat and will be keen to get it wet so stay tuned. been getting some good crabs while this winds blowing. proserpine river is good and a heap of prawns can be casted. just be aware there is alot of crocs so would not swim.Originally Posted by cyclops

G'day mate, I live in Bowen too.
Magazine Creek is the main creek in Bowen. Head to the Harbour on Santa Barbara parade or to Flagstaff Hill and you can't miss it.
Gordon Creek is not even worth mentioning. Still, I have herad of Jacks and good whiting that come out of it but concidering what other creeks around its not worth ya trouble. The creek is near the Big Mango and is more of a puddle than something that resembles a creek.
Duck creek is not far from Bowen and thats all i will say about that so devocean doesnt kill me.. (hang on, I showed you that spot Devo).
Yeah but I know how to fish itthe best Mick, Im pretty sure those jack are undersize Mick,.
