cobe
Finally got a trip in with George, only days before returning to work. Arrived at Mooloolaba at gentlemans hours to a packed car park but fortunately for us and unfortunately for another bloke with a motor that wouldn't start, we snagged a good spot. Sorry mate.
Had a few drops at Spot X with little to show and moved onto the Gravel Patch. Worked that area and found some new spots for further reference. George managed a nice cobia and a few squire, but no snapper. Left there and headed back to Spot X for the evening session.
Put the parachute away, anchored up and hit the burley. Wasn't long before we were getting bricked by what we later found out to be gold spot cod. George hooked a corker around the 130cm mark. We punctured the air bladder and tired to swim him away but he didn't look real flash. Sad to see a great fish end that way.
Next livey fell to another cobe and George was smarting. My rod buckled over and after a lot of lower back pain raised a bloody great whaler, no monster cobe for me. Big fella took a look at us and said no thanks and was gone.
Picked up a small snapper to a cuttlefish head that we were trying for the first time after hearing they are gun snapper bait. By this time is was about 7pm. We had heaps of fillets and decided to call it a night. Bring on them HIGHS.
