Escaped Brisbane for the Ekka and headed back to the olds for a bit of Mum's cooking and Dad's boat.
The weather was still a bit suss on Saturday after plenty of forecasts saying the high would weaken but with good solid 20kt gust still blowing through it didn't look good. The bullet was bit and we headed out. It wasn't the best conditions, but for the wind that was about it didn't seem too bad. The plan was to head to Flat Is. The Pinnacles is on the way so a quick look there before dark. Heaps of bait holding on it so we though it was worth a drift. First drop landed a nice Golden Trevally. Second drift and I picked up a fair lump of Cod and Dad got busted off. Threw the anchor over and weren't having much luck. After turn of tide things started picking up with a nice Cobia. What a mission it was to land in the dark!! I then booked myself in for a arm stretching with a big Cobe. Thought it was a shark all the way to boat as he didn't want to do the normal surface sprint...just head straight down. 35m up..35m down and back again. There were plenty of fish showing on sounder but appart from a Grunter the night went right through with Cobia. 5 ended up in the box. I hooked a Spanish first thing in morning but he bit me off just out from boat. Trolled some wolfies around before heading back without any luck.
Went down the Fitzroy today for a fish and crab. No luck there.
Forecast is good for tomorrow so taking the tinnie out to Pelican and Emu Park area to chase Spots and Dogs.
Back to the rat race on Wednesday.
