    26/8 PB COBE AND TUNA

UP at 3.30 am and onto the net too check out the weather looked good
The deckie had pulled the pin on thursday so with my other crew going oversea for six weeks it was going to be a solo trip. Out of manly by 5am and a great run too the four beacons for some livies and onto the cape to set up a burley trail and wait. About 7am the first run and it was blistering 150mt of 40lb had me think i'd hooked a passing boat. After about 15mins the 80lb leader had worn though and then the other rod went off. This reel had 500mts of 30lb which i'd respooled the day before at about the 300mt mark i decided i'd better pull the anchor and start the chase but after a other 15mins the leader worn though talk about pissed off. So it was time to up the anty and out came the 150lb and 8/0 this time i was in business with the next fish hooking up shortly and after a 15 to 20 min fight i sighted a big cobe and then the realisation that the hook was just sitting in the top of its mouth the heart started pumping and i was only going to get one shot at this fish onboard he came and this fish was 50 plus because that is all the scales go up to and the he broke the handle as well, i sat down for a well desevered rest. But not for long the other reel screamed off pick up the rod and into gear the tension came on and set the hook and of she went it was a blistering run and for a while started think the i was going to get spooled but after pushing the drag up a bit higher she then turned and after about 15mins on board came a 40lb long tail tuna. Feeling quite happy with myself it was time to pull the pin and head home great run home sat on 30kn all the way back to manly the weather forecast was way off this time thankfully.

Super effort by yourself. Plus the bonus of many fillets for weeks on end.

Give a man a fish, and he'll eat for a day. But ,flogging him into submission will result in him taking up crabbing.... and once he gets a taste of that sh*t, well, he may never return again.
