    FIRST OFFSHORE TRIP THE BEST!!!!!!!!

the new rumrunner is christened with offshore fish blood bout dam time! i woke up at 5:50 packed the boat (while the skipper was sleeping ) was out to the ramp by about 6:30 and in the water by about 7:00, i could not beleive the amount of boats down there, there was about 20 boats lined up at 6:50 in the morning! we went for a cruise and decided to fish one of the five islands (toothbrush island) within about 10 mins bang! i was excited first offshore fish i brang it up in about 1 minute and was a small rock cod back it went as it was endangered then more and more came up bigger biggest one was about 40cm and 1.5kg. about 2 mins later bang! a rod bends over all the way and ran and ran we were not sure what it was but it was big about 10 minutes later we had colour and called it for a nice kingfish when we brang it up it was a nice fat one it weighed about 3kg and went 80 cm,
after that we decided to move to another island this time it was big island not a bite so decided to trawl along the rocks and bays until we get back to the open of the harbour we caught a nice 55cm sargent baker there nice eating but alot of bones we finished it was getting rough so decided to head in when we got there there was the 20 boat line up oh well so we went around the corner and had a trawl with the new diving lure and christmas tree lure we were getting smashed by tailor had a load of fun and ended up catching 7 legal tailor.

by the end of the day we had about 11 fish all up and very tired arms will DEFENETLY be staying a offshore fishermen and will DEFENTLY be using lures more often .

i took all the photos so theres none of my fish in it (or me )

    Hi Fish Boy

Nice catch mate. Up north of the border, we consider the Sarg and his Grinner mates nothing but vermin They are a pain to catch because they are bait thieves, and when you get onto a patch of them it is usually a good indication you are off the reef and over sand.

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers

I was the same way about offshore fishing not so long ago... It's still great fun.

Nice catch... Where did you fish from? We went off Coffs Harbour yesterday and the ramp was packed. Caught 3 nice kingies, 4 snapper and 9 flathead between 43cm-56cm. Enough for a feed and too start stoking the freezer with fillets again.

Keep going and having fun. Seargent Baker fillets make for nice bait.
Why is all the good weather around on weekdays?
