anyone have any photos of an alvey winch experience , i've posted this afew times before yet no one has replied lol maybe i should get the hint , anywho , i'm contemplating buying one and would like to hear any stories you guys may have ?
it's been 3 weeks now i've been waiting to use them but due to bad weather down here in sydney my trip has been cancelled 2wice and i'm getting hungrier for the experience and stories from people ...

2 mates that I take out on my boat offshore fishing use the Old Alvey Snapper winches!! They do alright on them with Snapper and Pearlys.... I prefer overheads and Baitrunner Shimano 6500's myself.....

used to run a small charter out of tin can bay and used the alveys you are asking about. idiot proof strong and reliable but i did find them a bit heavy after using them all day. still have 1 or 2 and enjoy using them . but love my okuma lever drag a bit more
