Gday again,
Headed out this morning for a half day charter on the close grounds again, approx 4 NM in 45 metres.
I've gotta say after a very quiet morning yesterday Jason and I were a little concerned today was going to be a carbon copy. The forecast was the same but everyday is different and we remained confident we could forget about yesterdays performance and try hard to get our customers on some good fish.
When we arrived we soon realized the current had eased from yesterday and conditions were really quite good.
We started the day a little quiet with a few tailor etc. We set our livebaits and burleyed up.
We finally got a run, Nice mack tuna and the start of many more, The boys had some light gear they bought along and were having a ball on the mackies.
Then a simultaneous hookup, one on a bottom rig and one on a livebait midwater, We landed the one on the bottom rig- Cobia about 9kg. In the meantime the other fish is going quite hard, Another mack tuna, or at least we thought so. The rod and reel he was using looked like something I catch bream on where we moor the boat. Then the fish surfaced, another cobe, At this point I'm starting to wish he had of used the gear we supply. Fortunately we got the fish in reach of our long gaff. 14kg, Great effort on light gear!.
Get the lines back in boys! Jason called, Keep the Cobia around! and that they did, we landed 6 from 6, biggest 17kg on the scales.
A good turn around from yesterday and a happy crew to go.
It's a shame about the weather for Sunday but I guess I can get a sleep in after a busy few days.
