Smithy here again on Russ' login.
Fished 4 days straight in epic conditions. Just me and Greg onboard (Bonehead). Had 10 up for a released 600-700# and tagged and measured tail hooked 2.4m 275#. Come tight on 3. First day one bite on Ribbon 8 for 2:10 fight to me on a 750#+. Sunset drag around 18kgs after 5 mins, insane drag the last 5 before being sharked. Had double to tip a couple of times early. Bait fishing was hard so we only started at 1:30 or so then had the bite then had to get in for an anchorage. Next day had 4 shots at least. Didn't come tight at all. 3 up the next day on 5 for the released one right at the death. Rafted up with Viking II and Top Shot and got on the sauce. Had to pull the pin at 2:00 today to get Greg in for his flight so fished from 9:30 to 2:00 for the 2 bites. Little 70-100kg one straight up that was too small for the 20/0 circles. Plenty of good ones being caught. Kim Andersen weighed a 976# yesterday and plenty for 900#+'s being axed for records and stuff at the moment and granders being released. They are feeding on plenty of Yellowfin at the moment which everyone are marking on the sounders including us. Will give the YFT a go tommorrow on Billy Bonitos etc. Got bombed by a 90-100lb Wahoo today for a chop-off. Saw it clean as day out of the water looking torpedo sized. Castille is on a jigging/poppers charter and have got a 90# GT, similar Wahoo and 30kg Doggies. Also saw freejumping 30kg YFT. Just need to get them past the whalers. The GBR is alive at the moment. Crocs don't rule, the reef rocks!
