    Offshore Goldie

On the water before the sun hoping for a couple of trag and cobia. Straight to the bait grounds where there wasn't much happening. Decided to head straight to a couple of bumps just outside the 24s. We went past a few schools of small mack tuna, but decided not to bother them. A few good shows of bait on the sounder but no action on the pillies.

Headed back to the 18s with very little showing. Couple of bait schools but we couldn't tempt anything. Last resort, off to narrow neck to try for tailor. Had a good sesion and picked up a feed with a doggie for good measure. Only choppers. Decided to troll the slugs behind the break back to the seaway. Passing the scot. prince the 4kg millionaire rig goes off. First call tailor. Second call big tailor. Started chasing at 6 knots when down to last 6 or seven wraps on the spool. 30 mins later, 15kg mac tuna on board. Simmo's first and biggest I've had on board.

Unfortunately bad hook placement and long fight left suvival chances low. Destined for strip baits.
Sorry, no photo's, my wife had the camera.

We Always seem to catch the bigger ones when there is no camera on board. Plenty of photos taken at the ramp by japanese tourists.

Nice to be out on the water again. wind didn't get above 6-8 knots.

I should've said we estimated 15kg. I only had 10kg scales on board and it easily bottomed them out. Sorry about that.
It measured 87cm. If anyone can give me a closer estimate I would appreciate it.

Current at the 24s was strong but not ridiculous. Water colour was very blue.
Apparently it is screaming down at brunswick out wide.

I got a Longtail Tuna that was 101cm and it only weighed 10.5kg it would have too be one fat Mac Tuna to be any where near 15kg I haven't seen one past 8kg yet. But good catch all the same.
