Seabreeze had predicted to wind to be about 10 knots at Cape Moreton and young Ron was pretty keen to catch a fish.
I picked Ron and his son Steve up at 04:00am and headed off to the ramp. The idea was to troll some skirts just south of the Cape and pick up some Dollies, Wahoo, Spaniards and maybe the odd Yellow Fin Tuna.
We were the only ones on the water when we rounded the Cape so the skirts went in. We trolled until the paint came off the lures and still not a touch. We had met “Seeker” at the ramp and he had agreed to let us know what Hutchies was like. – No bait anywhere on, near, on top or around Hutchies. In fact Seeker had decided to come to the Cape.
Finally at 09:30 a 40-50kg Marlin decided to get his nose tangled in one of our lures. A quick few photos and he was back in the water before I could even think about putting on the striped apron.
M.r Marlin gave us a bit of a scare when he showed his belly for about a minute but with one quick kick of his tail and he was off.
What a fantastic way to go fishing with you son.
We lost some great fish on plastics because our lines were a bit to light but had a great day without waves and swell.
