Angler from Singapore
Hello and good day to all, i am a 23m fishing freak from Singapore and will be studying in brisbane in feb. Are there any kind souls that can give advice on the salt/fresh water fishing ard the brisbane waters? As i am new to brisbane, i do not know the transport system well, hopefully there is some fishing ground near to my university(university of queensland) St lucia campus. In singapore, i do mainly light tackle lure fishing using baitcasters or spinning reel. The fish spieces in singapore is the same as those found in northern queensland, we have queenfish, barramundi, jacks and for freshwater, we have peacock bass, carps, and sometimes the rare sarratoga in reservoirs. I am hoping to land some bass/sarratoga in in brisbane...so any fishos care to help?

Hi Babumouse,
I aint no genius but I reckon you might forget about St Lucia unless you have a lot of time. Head upriver or down but where you are thinking aint the place to be. Others might tell you diff but thats what reckon

Heh, thanks alot for the advice!!! What abt places near st lucia?, sorry i havent been to brisbane yet. so i do not know the place well, does brisbane have mangrove jacks or maybe some impound barra? I have been to perth to do some fishing before and notice that good light fishing tackles are so expensive in perth then in singapore. Is there a good fishing tackle shop that sells good priced shimano or abu garcia reels? By the way how much does an abu garcia 2500 CIAR average cost in brisbane?
Gee sorry gfor asking so many questions mates, thanks all agin for the replies!!!

Re: Angler from Singapore
Sorry again mates hehe another question are there any commercial pay to fish fishing ponds in brisbane? Commercial Fishing ponds are those that release fishes into ponds that confirms a catch but need to pay a fee. We have quite a few of those commercial ponds in singapore )
