Going to fish at Queensland (Any suggust)

    Dear Australian anglers,

I'm from Hong Kong and wanna have a fishing vocation in Queensland. I plan to visit Gold Coast and Big Barrier Reef near Cairns.

In HK, I lplay rock-fishing. For the environment, please take a look at the attached pics. Are there any similar places near Gold Coast and Cairns? The water depth s/b 3m or above.

Moreover, I wanna try Game-fishing too. There are Marlin, Sailfish & Tuna. That's new for me. Are there any good place?

Please advise. Many thanks in advance.

    Cheers

    Fergus

Take a look at www.sunfishqueensland.org and it's links. There are some of good places left here in the north where commercial fishing and/or habitat destruction have not impacted too heavily.

Fergus, go straight for the throat ta start off with and book a two week charter out to the Swains ( if you can get on one ), just to get you settled into some fishing(Blow your mind it will, with heaps of fish and some real Companeroes for company).
Then maybe a trip up ta Cairns if ya wanna do some game fishing . Some good sites have been added by others for your perusal, check em out .
When you say that in Hong Kong you play rock Fishing for the enviroment ???, What do you mean ???.

    Hi Volvo,

Sorry to have made you or others misunderstood.

I go rock-fishing in HK and the locations are like the pics that I attached in this 1st message. There are many breams under the rock-based shore. Are there any similar places in Cairns and Gold Coast which are accessible by rental car.

    Cheers

Re: Going to fish at Queensland (Any suggust)

Cairns is 1700 kilometres north of the Gold Coast and there are plenty of places to fish off the rocks at either end and everywhere in between. If bream are your favourites, get some tough fighting gear as there are some horse bream in some parts of our coast. Many places are accessible by car so bring your own gear or buy some good stuff here and enjoy yourself.

    gday fergus
the southern end of the gold coast has the headlands you are looking for burliegh heads point danger and snapper rocks for starters. but please be careful as these areas are dangerous . also try the seaway near seaworld good luck .

cairns is 1700 kms north of brisbane flying up is the quickest way to get there or it takes about 2 or 3 days pending on how often you stop . cairns is the gamefishing place and any place you stay up there should be able to book you on a trip.
