Just wanted to thank all who replied to my questions about alvey reels. Lotsa' stuff to digest now. I will be purchasing a couple of reels and rods from ausfish . My credit card is justa' quiverin'. Again thanks to all of you .
One last question does alvey fly reels have a quick change spool?

The Alvey Fly Reels do not have a quick change spool. You can however change the spool by taking off the knurled nut on the front of the spool and remove the spool. This however removes the spool and drag. To have a spare spool to replace this way is expensive as you are virtually changing everything except the backing plate. Better to buy two reels if you wish to change line quickly.
You can buy spare sppols only but it is not a quick change from one to the other.
