I know what Bo is saying as both Randall and myself have gone to many fishing clubs etc doing our House Of Lures presentations and found that very few kids attend these presentations when the question is asked about the juniors the answer comes back that we don't cater to their level of fishing (ie) don't want to spend the time to teach the juniors or don't have the capacity to do so.The other most common response is that the numbers of juniors in the area interested in fishing doesn't warrant a junior membership. I see this as more a cop out than anything else there are plenty of juniors out there who love fishing but feel intimidated by the older fisho for no other reason than a age thing or not having access to these type of fishos. I also see Steves point re the junior forum and the undesirable element, so there is no quick fix but what I can suggest is that maybe we should have a Ausfish junior day just as said in a previous post the sunfish deal THE TAKE A KID FISHING programme but through this medium. I for one would be happy to volunteer THE HOUSE OF LURES as a contributor to this and would also be happy to answer any junior anglers questions if they feel the need to ask me one. I'm not any sort of Guru but have learnt a great deal from fishos such as Rod Harrison, Gary Fitzgerald, Brett Finger, George Voisey the list goes on. So I think in short term something can be done through this forum to help the junior anglers that reside here without the need for a separate forum.

wasn't pressuring the idea or anything, it was just an idea i had. And i wouldn't want to be responsible for giving the moderators more work either. And IF we did have one, i would be happy to do any of the work im capable of and allowed to do. Even if it means running the hole thing.

Hey fellas, I think Steve (AUSFISH) is right. You young fellas should just join in with us old farts and we can learn something from each other because the fish don't know how old the person holding the rod is...now does he?
Just on a different note, there is book called "my mate moby" which is about a whiting that could talk, and I'm sure you youngans would really enjoy reading it as would the ancient variety so see if you can find it and have a read.
good thoughts bomber..i can also see where ausfish is coming from..however if there was a specific area for the youngsters to ask a question it may be easier for us older folks to answer them..no pressure bo..i have seen some of your previous posts and some answers even confused me..guess what i'm saying is if a post is up in a certain area and you know the person is under a certain age we could be less technical..or maybe even a special icon for the youngsters ausfish?? nothing ventured nothing gained..see what the end result is..you may end up with a win / win situation bo and ausfish

I reckon that a special icon would probaly help alot, then (as you said) use older blokes could explain things in less technical terms. Sometimes use do explain things pretty complicated and i rekon you shouldn't have to change that for us kids. But a special icon thing would probaly solve this problem and would be easy as well

I feel that one of this sites greatest attributes is that has full involvement
of all its members without prejudice .
Everyone respects the oppinions of others and gives them fair play .
It is a good family orriented site,with a G rating .And I would have no fear at my own son being involved .
Although I have not yet seen it but should any problem arrise the membership would soon take it to hand so to speak .
I have no problem with the junior membership interacting with the seniors as per current situation .
I do not feel that for them to have a board of their own would reflect upon the true value of what we have here .
I will for one give them the greatest of encouragement and assistance in helping them to become a better fisherman and can only hope that everyone else will do the same .

PS Good call on the icon idea JB . Maybe it should be placed on all us older fellas but so the young fellas know when they are talking to a geriatric and can talk in a language we can understand .

Gotta agree with JB - an icon would be a simple solution in how us older guys should assist in adapting our explainations. When you are passionate (and to a degree knowledgeable) about a topic it is very easy to let your tongue run faster than your mind and before you know it you've confused everyone and forgotten what the question was.
ReelHard is right - as we are all passionate about fishing and protective of it's future we are all responsible for education and learning.Us older guys were probably largely influenced by our fathers or grandfathers and even in todays age of tecnology we can still reflect back to "when i was your age we ....." Sometimes that's the easiest form of explaination.
Good on ya Bo for raising the issue - it is apparent from the number of replies that people of all ages value our young guns - get in to it and enjoy it!

without discrimnation.
if they would like to have a badge or something to let us older foge's know that it is the younger generation we are addressing so be it.

thanks for the comments harrya, although i agree with most of your comments, it has got nothing to do with discrimination. Use older guys do treat us as equals, but thats the problem... Use talk to us in complicated terms. And of course you mean well but we can get confused.

Hi all
I send a private message to the admin on the subject of the youngins havin their own forum when the kids first started posting.
My thoughts at the time is so they had a sense of ownership, but after the reply i received from admin i was extremely happy with the response i recieved.
Maybe the icon idea is the way to go or add some thing to your personel text such as "take it easy i am a youngun"
Any way yuongun's i am reading your post to see if i can learn any thing, so keep up the imforative post
