Fresh water permits
Guys and gals,
Sorry if others know about this but I'd thought I'd test the water as it was.
Heading fresh at the weekend made me realise I need a SIP permit now. Looked up Qld DPI Fishweb to find out where I could buy one for Maroon Dam and low and behold they now offer them online.
You can buy yearly and weekly over the net. I got three weeklies at $7 each with the permit emailed to you and you just print it out. You pay with Credit Card through the Commonwealth Bank security pay system. Took all of about 10 mins and didn't have to worry about the shop being open or not having a permit.
Not a bad service for those looking to do a drop of the hat trip to the fresh.
Have a look here for the main page:

This one takes you straight to the weekly:

Re: Fresh water permits
Hadn't heard of that Brett, very handy, And a lot faster than the post office when you want to go.
The last few times I fished Moogerah without the permit, didn't run into any enforcement, do you get on the spot fines or a chance to pay if they ask.
Cheers

Re: Fresh water permits
The fine is on the spot $150 I believe. There is some ambiguity if you actually have a SIP but haven't got it with you. They can fine you for not having it with you, but it is up to the officer.
The moral to the story is "be very nice to them if you forgot to take your SIP along"
BTW- All money from the SIP (after admin costs) goes directly back to stocking the participating lakes.
Fitzy..
