garden worms as bait in the briney

Has anyone had experience with garden worms as bait in salt water. I have seen worms of various forms sold in tackle outlets sold as bait. My wife has our garden full of the suckers and I have heard of old timers using things like bullock heart (not Dereks) etc, so all info would be appreciated. Tim

    Hi all

dont no about worms, but I have seen a great bait for goanna's

Get 1 tent- domes work best
    1 frog, larger the better
Now the complicated bit, once you have placed your bait in position, roll the tent up & stow away for at least a few weeks. This will enable scent(lovely) to seep niceley into all the fabric. Now when you get to camp, put up tent, goanna's appear from nowhere for a feed, truely amazing to see.

PS -IT ALSO HAS THE BONUS OF GETTING YOU THE WHOLE CAMP SITE TO YOUR SELF.

This method works a treat on goannas. I have had my tent in the sun all week, sprayed it with some orange bathroom cleaner which only worked marginally, then discovered it took the colour out of the tent, then wiped it over with vanilla. It is slowly getting better. Thanks for reminding me Gibbo.

now to the topic of catching fish and not lisards!
i have no dout that the humble garden worm would work after all most farm land that is coverd in worms are found next to some top bream and flathead rivers
but i have also see some wonders work as bait over the years
    ciggie foil catching dollies
minced meat and toher off cuts from almost all eastery fish
even seen trout caght on a safty pin and bread
most fish wount stop longenought to take a hard look at the bait if it looks right they will just take it while it is there
it is worth a shot who know may end up your best bait!

I have never used garden worms but have used beef heart a few times with moderate success (a few bream & whiting).

Here is a link to a topic on this chat board about using beef heart as bait.

Might get the fork out and dig a few worms out of the garden before I go fishing next.
