    Shell Dredges

Does anyone know what a shell dredge looks like or how they work?. I suppose they are used to target Scallops. The regulations say you cant use them in Moreton or Hervey Bays but OK in other tidal areas. I know the Vics had a strong recreational scallop fishery until they overfished it >.

    Hi Neild
just image a large metal cage with an opening of at least 300mm being dragged acrossthe ocean, have u ever seen the distuction that a bulldozer does to the forest as it pushes across it, if not have a look because thats what the scallop dreges do to the ocean floor
    just my humble opinion
    cheers

    Blaze,

ur right, scallop dredging ruined Port Phillip bay . Rexy might have caught 'em of the 'Mordy Pier', but the areas we fished where RS. Don't know what its like now, as this was back in the 60's. (The good 'ol days aren't always the good 'ol ways!!)

    Just my humble opinion too.

    Cheers,
