Another question. I know it is illegal to use a casting net in NSW. How about jigging - any restraints ?
Also, I don't really know how to catch mullet for bait ie hook size, bait and tide ?

Tried to catch these critters at Brunswick Heads- they just ignored me.

Are Herring available there ?
Hoping to spend two weeks at Iluka. You have got me excited

The wharf at goodwood island has herring you can jig up,and im pretty sure there is no restraints on jigging as in number of hooks,but i would ask at local tackle shop just to be sure .Also if you are after yabbies for whiting etc,about a k or so before and on the same side as the wharf,look for 1 maybe 2 old wooden rubbish bin posts on the dirt road,HOPE THERE STILL THERE,that spot is the best for yabbies,5 or 6 a pump ,another spot to try is straight out the front of the big white house before the bend opposite browns rock caravan park,if ya drop in for anything at the park can ya tell bruce the owner brendon from reel em in said gyday ,me and me dad have fished down there for 30 odd years and its one of me fav spots,good luck and let me know how ya went.regards Kracker.

if ya end up chasing bluefin i highly recomend the iluka breakwall, should be easy to get some garfish there on bread. I think jagging mullet is illegal all over nsw.
I think the mullet get into the boat harbour at iluka alot maybe try there with some bread also. I berley up a bit with the bread till i see em up eating the bread and then i send in a piece with a hook in it and bam!
