where are all the new fishing inspectors?

Just thought i would throw my 20 cents worth in here to,but i was asked the other day by a tackle shop owner when renewing my lisence if i got my moneys worth out of last years
to which sadly i had to say no i dont think so .i read that some of the money from our lisences goes into fisheries employing extra inspectors, hence more patrols and bag and sise limits being monitored yet every time i go out and fish i see people are still abusing the system.last month the bonito and salmon turned up in good numbers and i watched a few guys fishing from a small ledge pulling them one after another in the rock pools there were at least 50 or 60 fish(thats no exageration it could have been more)i actually rang the fisheries to get the we have nobody avalible answer also.
since the lisences were introduced again i have NEVER been aproched by an inspector,on average i spend 2 or 3 days a week fishing so i can see why alot of people are not to worried about breaking the law.
i was down in the same area to today and noticed 2 things
1.the area that these guys have been fishing resembled the local tip,i have never seen anything so discusting in to 20 years ive been rock fishing, the garbage that was laying around and the smell was just unbelivable.
2.there was nobody fishing the ledge but there was a mass of bait fish still there.thats a bit of a concern to me ,plenty of food but no fish eating it,if these guys i wittnessed were doing the same thing everyday for a few weeks would that explain it ?
In defence of some of the guys down there maybe they arent breaking the bag limits 2 guys =40 bonies ? seriously what is anyone going to do with that many fish, lets make the bag limits a bit more realistic and get the fisheries guys enforcing it and ill be happy to say yeh heres my $25 keep up the good work

    cheers col

G'Day Col, Not sure what area you are referring to but it is also frustrating not to mention down right depressing to a lot of the anglers 'round here in the s/e corner of Qld,not only with the fish but the open slather on the annual prawn runs,I,like you have NEVER in all my fishing life had an inspector pull me up to check my catch not once in 60 bloody years!!!!,(& its not that I fish infrequently ), We,Here in Qld dont have a saltwater licence fee & by your comments another reason not to have one IE.nothing seems to happen to the dollars going in,no accountablity,no future/forward planning, just dead silence OR to be told when you do report something,Sorry we have no one in that area at the moment >,(unlike the freshwater re the stocking programs at lest) I'm hoping it is one of the major issues(more inspectors ect.) I would like to see addressed by the newly formed fishing party.Cheers Touchy.><> ><> ><>.

Yeh its a sad state of affairs at the moment.imm down on the south coast of nsw and the area i was refuring to is at bass point.what makes it a little harder to swallow is that its a public reserve and the rangers down here have just been given the power to hand out fines for all sorts of pollution problems.in there defence though imm not sure they get paid enough to approach 20 or 20 islanders and tell them they are going to be fined, but in saying that there are other ways of going about it to .i can see the writing on the wall as far as the garbage problem goes they will just stop people from fishing there and then everone suffers because of a few who cant do the write thing.

out fishing on my local salt water lake the other weekend and as i was pulling up my hoop nets a fisheries guy came over in his boat.

very nice guy and ask to see my license which i did no problem.

we had a chat. he said he was very busy every weekend checking 100's of licenses and catches.

last sunday i was at the beach watching the pro's watching the water looking for mullet. and there amongst them was a fisheries guy having a chat.

at least they know he's around and that they can't push the limits.

no problems with fisheries (or waterways for that matter) around here and thats the way i like it.

in time i'm sure the spread of officers and numbers will be tweeked and hopefully everyone will get the value for money that we get down here.

Wish I hadn't seen the inspector that travelled all the way up to the very backwaters of Pindarri Dam in N.S.W. and slapped a $500 fine on myself and my mate for not having our names and addresses on a few lousy shrimp traps. Worse was to come as the missus refused to give me any money and I had to sell a fair bit of fishing gear to pay the fine.
