Dug, I am pretty sure you will find these people are breaking the law in 2 (at least) ways. You make a very big assumption when you say these fish go through the fish board. These guys like to cut out the middle man, I think you will find his suppliers, especially of the illegal stuff, are all related to him.Originally Posted by Dug
To My_Topender, excellent work, I think we as Aussies tend to sit back a little too much and say "She'll be right mate" .
Thanks to everyone who's made their comments for my part in the extra thing, the thing is i didn't initiate the action. I got an email from Steve, telling me to call Brisbane Extra.
A big thanks should also go to Gary Fooks for his part as well, he was filmed the same day as me.
Story will be going to air on Extra tonight 5:30 to 6:00pm
Make sure you watch it and give your feedback to the show via their feedback form. http://www.extraonline.com.au/
It looks like the show will be saying how you can be fined for BUYING undersize fish, but will have to wait to see what goes to air.
Looks like the spin doctors have got hold of this story and instead of getting to the root cause they are now trying to have a go at the consumer for buying the product.
Also listen to 4BC at around 3:00pm today as there will be some more info on there. You can listen via the net at http://www.4bc.com.au
Is there any way we can watch this program down Canberra way? Would like to see it. Noel
Don't think so, they just put a bit about the days stories on the website.
I think it is updated just after the show finishes going to air, http://www.extraonline.com.au
Thanks to modern technology, in the form of a Hard Disk Recorder, i will record it at home to a Mpeg file and upload it so anyone interested can download a copy.
way to go guys, there is shop down here selling live undersize reefies and abalone, the abalone would be lucky to go 5cms. > I don't care if they don't come from qld in nsw they are 15 cms.
cheers
Joe
The abalone are most likely farmed.
"Robert Dolley used his mobile phone to take photos of undersized fish at a local fish shop. He's posted them on the website of recreational fishing group Ausfish, which is abuzz with similar stories"
