Just saw on tv that one of the terrorist...oops.... tourist operators out of Cairns on our reef has the go ahead for a multilevel massive pontoon on Moore(sp) reef.
apart from all the other negaives associated with this commercial venture how far will one have to travel away from it before it is no longer visually polluting the reef.
I vote we move Cairns lock stock and barrel 28km east > >. GBRMPA once again looking after it's mates. [smiley=angryfire.gif] [smiley=angryfire.gif] [smiley=angryfire.gif] [smiley=wut.gif]
Typical of how we have been well and truely ripped off with these Green zones - you cant fish there but we can put 1,000's of tourists there to fill the area with who knows what and knock down the reef and that is OK because they pay a reef tax
By the way KC, have not heard much lately on this site about the party (your probably just happy not arguing with Jockey). How is it going? I sent off my application and cheque about 3 weeks ago so at least now trying to contribute. Figure you must be pretty busy. Hope all is progresing well.
I put up a post before I went. I was away for 3 weeks, part work, part holiday & part Fishing Party. I attended the first national executive meeting in Melbourne and then the formation AGM of the Victorian Branch of The Fishing Party (Vic). Met some good blokes, got to hear that what is happening up here is pretty well Australia wide and nice to know we are not in this fight alone.
As for "how we are going", we have really got ourselves organised softly softly over the last couple of months, got enough members to pay for a bit of seriuos press and have launched a major recruiting drive this month...if you have not already seen it we have a full page add and a full page editorial in June NQ Fish & Boat and will have a similar run in July QLD Fishing Monthly. Before we start hitting up the Shimanos and Diawas of the world for sponsorship we need members. They won't take us seriuosly unless we have a decent membership base and support from rec fishing. If we can get a couple of thousand members it gives us both the $$ and the credibility to get even more $$ from corporate sponsorship. The look out come election time....we might not actually win a seat but we will scare the living crap out of them!
Yeah KC , I am in the mood to join up too.
Especially now that I see that the labour party are giving some "was safe" seat to that tree hugging, Green Nazi , sings about as good as he dances Peter Garret hippy.
Fair dinkem, what are they thinking? >
Is there a link to your fishing party on this site.?
I haven't bunged it on Ausfish for a link. They have been good enough to provide a soapbox and discussions on this site have been vital in helping form policy ideas and generate membership. Once we have a couple of thousand members and the $$ that comes with that we might even buy some banner space hereabouts.
Just make sure you get all your mates to join as well....the fishermans grape vine is really what we are counting on come election time.
fair go fellas,
the green zones have fixed everything. haven't you guy's read the research. now that the fisho's and their destructive practices are gone the reef is saved.
its ok,
we'll put 1000 tourists p#$sin', sh^%tin' and throwing their crap all over the reef, a few hundred learning scub divers crashing around on the bottom, plus a bloody great floating hotel. that won't have an impact.
they cant be serious, they better have world class waste disposal systems > or we could just scuba dive there and accidentally cut the anchoring ropes and watch our troubles float away. this is definately not a good thing at all, there must of been heaps of environmentalists, reef scientists and the like furious, and they still went through with it. personally i would never go there, i cantthink of a worse "reef experience" which is what they have probably called it.
