This EPIRB has "something not quite right" about it that could contribute to a chopper coming out to look for you!! The winner gets a photo of my 2.9 kg. mudcrab caught in Raby Bay.

safety tag missing to stop it turning on
it doesn't actually indicate which way the dial should turn for "test" and "on"
if the tab wasn't there i'd probably have turned it "on" to "test" it out - a little counter intuitive.
IMO, there is nothing wrong with it.
The safety tab is still in place which means the unit can not be accidently set off.
The switch can be set to test as per normal, giving an indication of the units power & transmission ability, yet not actually tansmitting when in test mode.
OR by the looks of it, the safety tab can be moved to the right, thus allowing the unit to turn on, even though the tab is still in place?
The saftey pull tag is the wrong way around - it can be slid to the side & the appliance switched on, without removing the tab. Poor design the way its made anyway - that & the fact that the switch covers the position it is in unless the switch should be 180o around & there is an arrow or a locator window we cannot see on the other side

Wrong question Ian. It not a matter of how observant people are, but whether they know this particular model EPIRB or not. In my case, I don't, so I can't [smiley=help.gif] you.

Is it a GME MT300 ?
i reckon chris is partly right.
the switch obscures the word "off" or what ever function it is in at that time.
the operator should be able to look and see what function the unit is in. not figure it out through elimination.
i know the pull to operate sticker is not easy seen. and im not sure it should be under the thing to pull out on my old one its over the top to show its been ant to stop it coming out by mistake
anyway thats my guess
jeff
have you digitized the "P" in operate to look like a "B".i know the pull to operate sticker is not easy seen
if not can i see that pic anyway
.
The safety Tab is off a different Epirb , smaller fit , prone to easy dislodgment
That and the fact the saftey tag doesn't cross all the way
The safety tab has been removed and then replaced with part of the sign "PULL TAB TO BREAK SEAL" tucked under the tab so it can't be read.
oscar
yep the tag should across the the unit not inside it
what the, me try again
