Best bait for port of brisbane area?

Hey all,
I went fishing in the channel under the bridge next to the cop shop at the port of brisbane. Me and a freind managed to pull up 7 bream and 1 whiting, all pretty small. We were playing around with prawns and worms. Just wondering what you think would be the BEST bait to use around these parts?

Mate the best times in the boat passage are top and bottom, otherwsie current is a killer.
But the rocks either side of the bridge is a good luderick spot, and there's weed over on the southern side.
try yabbies, gut or plastics, for the bream.
