Kerry - All the pilots flying them were Russian, not a word of english beween them so they have an interpretor to tell you to put the ear muffs on and hold on. Scarry shit actually but 4 trips up there a year and the 25 mins from POM doesnt bother me now. Those Stanley ranges are amazing to see and makes you wonder how the hell soldiers walked let alone fought there in WW2

Yeah I know, that's a worry but it could be worse. Back in the late 80's very early 90's that big hurra burried its tail rotor into the dirt, backwards. Tha dam thing had a tail rotor bigger than the main rotor on an Bell 206, Makes a whole new meaning of wintering in the siberia, that where the pilot probably ended up

Now THAT'S my idea of a fishing boat!

I have flown one of these Petrel jobbies back home. Instantly, I wondered if they could replace a decent fishing boat.

Think about it... no trailers or lengthy sea-journies... just stroll out to the field and take off.

Finding the shoals and decent gutters would be a thing of ease. Just look over the side until you see the bait fish and swoop gently down to hang the rods over the side.

Never get spooled again. When the chaps in the grey suits decide to take your bait for a leisurely stroll off to the distant horizon, just take off and give the fangy fecker the shock of his life... "Hold THAT, ya bastad"!!

When you've finished for the day, take off again and land nicely in your field. It's a microlight, so you don't even need a full pilot's license!

As soon as I find that lovely acreage farm up North I've been contemplating, one of these is next on my list.

Wonder if they'd let me enter it in the Straddie Classi?
