Dr Dunning said DPI&F together with industry needed to address excess commercial fishing capacity and the potential for increased recreational harvest in the fishery.

“DPI&F will continue to work with the commercial and recreational sectors to ensure these issues are addressed over the next three year however, we are confident the recommendations will be implemented over this period,” he said.

Has the location of major population centres (rec fishing/charters) and comercial crabbing been addressed? Once again, them that make the rules are allowing the two to operate in the same locations. What chance of picking up a crab on a half day trip, when you compete with a business that does it for a living? ???
    No cheers Budgie
