    Melbourne Cup for Charity

To raise money for charity I have come up with this idea.

I will put $50.00 each way on the horse that has the most votes at Midday (Queensland Time) on Tuesday the 2nd of November 2004. If the horse comes a place (1st, 2nd or 3rd) the winnings, not the profit, will be donated to the Salvation Army.

Oh, I just thought I would remind you interstaters, that us Victorians get a HOLIDAY for the Melbourne Cup. Unbelievable isnt it, that we get a day off for a horserace. I suppose we earnt it, because WE work pretty hard down here. I dont know what to do though ? Should I go to the races, or go fishing, go to the pub, or hunting, or just relax at home with a beer and put my feet up and watch the race on TV. Geez, lifes tough. Enjoy your work fellas.

Great idea Steve & a very good gesture, Just for your info(from a bookie fellow I know)is that a lot of steady money over the last couple of weeks,(no huge bets but a lot of it) says that Vinnie Roe will take a power of beating,I'm waiting to see what the track is like but if its heavy I'll have a few bob on Grey Song. Cheers Touchy(from the bloke thats never backed a Cup winner in his life !! )

    Re: Melbourne Cup for Charity

Word down here in Melbourne is we are going to cop a BIG downpour on Cup Day which means it will be "anybodys" race. This is one race you cannot always rely on the favourite. TIP -- I always back a long shot in the Cup ( if it comes in, you win more ), so this year I will put a couple of dollars each way on Delzao. He loves the wet, and he comes from the Yarra Valley which has been very wet this year (home ground advantage) Good luck to all.

Whats wrong with you people, I have put out the "burley" about us Victorians having a Public Holiday for a "horse race". Its bloody rediculous, - "A public holiday for a horse race". Could someone PLEASE bite. Have a go, a coment, -- anything !! Hang on, Maybe you REALLY are jelouse of us Victorians. I reckon thats it. !! Oh yea, I see in the newspapers that people want the "MELBOURNE" CUP public holiday to go national. No Way. We earnt that holiday. Remember, its the "MELBOURNE" Cup -(Victoria). If you dont like the weather down here, you dont have to wait long for it to change. We have 4 seasons in one day. I have a sunburnt uperbody, and frostbite legs. ??? Oh well, the fishings better.!!!!!
