    Hi Devocean,

I don't know where you're based but Australian Battery Wholesalers in Acacia Ridge in Brisbane had a portable rechargeble spotty on display that looked like it could bore a hole in the moon.

    Their phone no is 07 3272 2377

    Cheers, Wacco_Fozzy

    Re: Spot lights

Dont be fooled by rated candle power of spot lights, ive done a lot of roo shooting and gone through a bloody lot of lights, my night eater is only using a 50 watt bulb, but throws a brighter better shaped and more intence beam then nearly anything else ive used, it all comes down to the quality and shape of the reflector, value for money id choose a powerbeam 9inch 100watt at roughly $150, or the lightforce which is a little lighter and about the same price.Ive also tried a Watco lazer light which shoots a narrower beam a lot further but i found it to narrow and your constantly moving the beam around to much just to see.As for the mercury bulbed units like the hellas etc from tjm ,there good driving lights but are far to expensive.Theres also a new 24 volt unit with a built in inverter to run on 12 volts from power beam which i havent seen yet but from all reports is brilliant, other then that mate your buggered!

    Try these

We use them on our underground loaders operating on tele-remotes.

    Cheers

dfox is on the money, beware of CP ratings quoted on some of the imported product. Powabeam and Lightforce are Aussie made. The night eaters are a great light also but also pricey - the old rule applies - you get what you pay for.

Powabeam - alluminium housing and a rugged light. Some of the metal components, I believe would not cope well in a saltwater environment. The lens is also glass.

Lightforce - polycarbonate construction (11 secret herbs and spices recipe) can be focused from flood to a spot. The 9" handheld light will shine a hell of a long way.

I work in a non related industry and sell equal amounts of both the Aussie lights. My preference is for the Lightforce for marine use. [smiley=2thumbsup.gif]

Not sure on exact figures of draw but to give you an indication - I can get about 1 hour from a 7amp motorbike battery in my portable unit.
I've never flattened the battery of the car when spotlighting BUT remember a car has a large alternator. If your motor is 4 stroke then it would be fine.
