Why has a plague of Elves and Santas taken over?

I know it is that time of year but Bah Humbug.

As a born again Neo Anamist and High Discordian Church goer I detest this so called season of marketing and excessive consumerism and all it's trappings.

Can we not even escape on the internet, One year, I dream of moving to Mongolia or Tibet at the first sign of tinsel that now appears just after Fathers Day and ends as the first easter eggs arrive in store.

Bah, Humbug Death to the elves!

awww dug - you sorry soul - must be a rough time for you.

    Commercialisation is a joyous thing.
To have a free market that can express itself is also equally joyous.
You & I would not be able to interact in this forum without it. We simply would not be able to afford this technology without its mass consumption.

Also, the elves, the tinsel etc are symbols of humanity interacting on a very real & positive level. Same as the dragon dancing thru china town - the celebrations of the harvest in tibet - a sydney stadium full of blue jerseys.

Merry Christmas to you dug ! This time of year, every elf I see, reminds me of a greater good - to wish the best for a complete stranger & genuinely hope he gets it.

    sincerely,
    chris

WOW Chris...I almost have tears welling in my eyes here.

To me Christmas is just a time to relax..with the illness some of my family members have, it won't be such a joyous occassion..but..I have my lil grandson to spoil rotten.

I will be glad when it is over, though it is a good excuse to have a few more drinks than normal.

At the age of 6, I was the only kid in school setting Santa traps around the fire place.

    Never caught one yet.

Dragons and Harvest festivals are OK.

Grand finals? I have not watched one for 25 years!!

Best thing for you to do Dug is go eat a fish, you then wont have to worry about the elfs peering through your screen or move to Tibet where you can look at Monks all year.

I'll be driving from the Sunnycoast to Gladstone on Christmas day. Hopefully everyone will be too busy opening pressies rather than be on the road/water.

Chrissy day is a great day for fishing and driving as everyone else is stuck at home. So I guess it does have a good side.
