Weird Fishing Spot
Checked out this spot the other night with a good mate which was pretty weird. The place is teeming with nannygai both big and small mouth, finger mark and even jobfish. It is in about 40 feet of water. Anyway what is weird is that all the fish seem to be about 30 to 35cm and there dosnt seem to be any bigger fish than that. Has any one found a spot like this and if so do you think there would be any bigger fish down there or am I just wasting bait?

Re: Weird Fishing Spot
Plenty of spots like that off Townsville.
In a very simple way, you could regard this spot as a nursery or a holding ground suitable for fish that are chasing prey within a certain size "window". As the fish increase in size, they may or will move off to a different location, with prey more appropriate to their new size window. (This is still a little theoretical, I'll admit!).
Of course, holding grounds are visited by big fish from time to time. If you are, however, looking for consistently bigger fish, you will need to find the holding gorund for bigger fish of those species.
